Riverina Leaders and Supporters Honoured in Annual Awards

Thirty Leaders and Supporters from across the Riverina have been recognised for their contribution to Scouting by the Chief Scout of Australia, His Excellency General, the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove, AKMC, in the annual Adult Recognition Awards for Good Service announced on World Scout Day.

These awards are presented to volunteer Leaders and Supporters who have given valuable service above and beyond what is normally expected of a person in their position.

1st Leeton Scouts Dominate at Region Rally

Two patrols from 1st Leeton Scouts took out first and second place in the Scouts Riverina Region ‘Back to Bush’ Rally held at Murrumbidgee Valley National Park in May.

Cabramurra Scout Lodge Gets a Makeover

Since reopening in 2013, the Cabramurra Scout Lodge has proved a popular location for Scouts and school groups seeking to experience a range of adventures, from snow tobogganing in the winter to hiking Mount Kosciuszko in the summer.

Thanks to the hard work of the committee, and a grant from the NSW Community Building Partnerships Program, Cabramurra is now even better.

Governor General honours Scouting members in the Riverina

Three Hundred and three Adult Members of Scouts Australia, New South Wales, were today honoured by the Chief Scout of Australia, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) in the annual Adult Recognition Awards for Good Service, part of The Scout Association’s observance of World Scout Day and the founding of Scouting at the first Scout Camp held at Brownsea Island in the UK on 1 August 1907.

After what has been a challenging few months for Catherine Bath and her team, an investiture ceremony tonight will give them a chance to celebrate.

Following the closure of the 1st Young Group a while ago, Catherine and the team have worked had to restart a Group in Young.

Riverina teams achieve success at Dragon Skin 2014

Congratulations to “4 Foot Soldiers”, the Venturer team from Yanco Agricultural High School who achieved 2nd place in the 2014 Dragon Skin “Lost Cities” challenge held over Easter.

“4 Foot Soldiers” finished on 1437 points, just one point ahead of the third placed “Smooth Cactus” team from Moocooboolah District.
